Peter Barca is a
life-long citizen of
Kenosha and the town of Somers. He is currently running for
re-election after being elected in 2008 to once
again serve the 64th District as their
State Representative once again after being out of politics the past
fifteen years.
This is a position he held for eight and a half
years after easily winning election five times to this seat back in the
mid-80's and early 90's. He
has been serving as the President of Aurora Associates International the
past six years, he was
formerly the Midwest Administrator for the Small Business
Administration, and started his career as a teacher and then a team
leader for students with special needs. He also served as an employment
coordinator and camp director for individuals with disabilities.
Peter has been an active citizen in the greater Kenosha area, serving on
a wide number of non-profit Boards and Commissions including the Kenosha
Family and Aging, the
Girl Scouts, the Foundation Board for U.W. Parkside, KenRail, the
United Way, and he Chaired a feasibility committee that led to the
creation of the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha. He is active in his
church at St. Peters Parish, and has coached and managed many youth
athletic teams for baseball, soccer, and basketball.
He has a son at Bradford High School and a daughter at the University of
Wisconsin at Madison.
As
a state legislator he passed a wide variety of legislation important to
Kenosha related to economic development, protection for seniors and the
disabled, education, employment and training, criminal justice, and
environmental protection. He chaired special legislative committees that
led to Wisconsin’s nationally recognized welfare reform, employment and
training systems such as the one stop shop that won a national award,
and one that developed the roadmap for rail services between Kenosha and
Milwaukee. He was an active part of the legislative delegation ( led by
Senator Joe Andrea ) that helped pass legislation that led to the
creation of the Lakeview Corporate Park that helped create thousands of
jobs. He is known for being fiscally responsible, co-Chaired the
Legislative Audit Committee, and helped pass provisions to improve
Wisconsin's tax rates and hold down spending. A detailed list of this

Barca was twice elected by his colleagues to the position of Majority
Caucus Chairman, one of the top leadership posts in the State
Legislature. Barca brings not only his state
legislative experience to his candidacy but also valuable experience
from his service in the Congress, in the federal executive branch of
government, and the private sector. He has many creative ideas to add to
this experience that appears in other parts of this website with many
