PETER ON THE ISSUE'S

Peter Barca believes that job creation and economic development need to be at the top of the priority list.  He will assist Kenosha businesses to qualify for state programs, tax incentives and opportunities that Wisconsin and the federal government offers.  He will work toward developing tax and research incentives for businesses pursuing sustainable energy resources.  He would also foster partnership between Wisconsin Universities and those businesses in strategic areas such as medical and green technologies to create family supporting jobs.

Peter Barca is a strong advocate for the rights of seniors and the disabled.  He will ensure that essential services such as prescription drugs are available at affordable cost to seniors and the disabled. He believes in providing support services in individuals’ homes, which improves the quality of life for seniors and saves taxpayers money. He will lead the effort to gain a federal waiver to maintain and expand senior care.

Peter Barca supports strategies to lower energy costs and reduce our dependence of foreign oil.  Consequently, he would work toward developing green technologies and providing tax credits to individuals and businesses for utilizing alternative technologies such as wind and solar.  He will work toward forging partnerships between Wisconsin Universities and businesses. He also supports a balanced but strong transportation and infrastructure system to improve roads, bridges and rail systems.

Peter Barca is a strong believer in fiscal responsibility and supporting only those programs that prove their effectiveness.  He will prioritize the programs that save taxpayer dollars to help Wisconsin’s citizens and the economy. He will increase accountability at all levels of government, eliminate duplication in programs, and work to improve efficiency in services. Furthermore, he will work to improve the tax code to make Wisconsin competitive for business and individuals.

Peter Barca understands the healthcare needs of Kenosha.  He knows that rising health care costs plague both individuals and businesses and has plans to help lower health care as well as insurance costs to improve availability for all citizens.  He believes it is time to have universal and affordable health for all citizens. However, during the interim period, Peter plans to introduce a bill in his first month in office to put Kenosha and Racine into a health pool to lower costs for individuals and businesses.

Peter Barca believes in high, quality and affordable education.  Consequently, he would look at programs to improve education across the board.  He wants to expand programs that work such as Head Start and identify elementary school children with reading and math difficulties to give them the necessary assistance to succeed.  To tackle the existing drop out problem, he would focus his efforts on middle school and provide it with the necessary tools it needs.  Furthermore, Peter Barca believes in holding down the cost of college tuition increases and partnering with private foundations to make college more affordable.

Peter Barca believes that public safety must always be a top priority.  He will focus on providing law enforcement, prosecutors and firefighters with the tools necessary to keep us safe. He believes our community, schools, parks and homes should be safe places for all our citizens. Additionally, he will address the issue of juvenile crime in a comprehensive manner.  He believes in being tough on crime and smart on crime prevention.
